This photograph was never intended to be anything special. It was one of about six snapshots I took while shopping with Ginger at a local antique mall. We had a wonderful day–girlie luncheon, a trip to World Market, and then the afternoon at a marvelous antique mall. Our kind of day–and way too long in coming! We were certainly due for some dynamic duo time!
Toward the end of our tour through the antique mall, we came across this odd little woman’s suit–jacket and skirt–made like this photo shows, out of knitted, flat bias strips of an odd lightweight rayon stuff. Between the knitting and the bias strips, the garments were very stretchy, and although from any distance it looked like it was made of straw or raffia, it was actually very soft-handed and drapey.
It was quite the work of art, at any rate. I know very little about knitting, but I really cannot even imagine how you would go about making something like this. So, I was taking some close-ups as well as a couple of longer range shots to remember this little outfit by—and lo and behold, this one really came out cool! Interesting lighting, texture, and lines.
