Ahoy ye Skallywaggs! I've found it!

13 June 2007

Shiver me timbers!  Summer last, me good friend Paul, he did choose to buy a grand, booteeful doublet outta rich silv’r and gold fancy fabric, worthy o’ the queen herself—like whatcha see in th’ photo above.  In fact, that thar sleeve in th’ picture—that’d be Paul’s very own sleeve.  Ye see, as a reference for other sewin’, Paul be entrustin’ me with the keepin’ o’ his sleeve—and I did pack it fer the journey back south t’ me home.  Time be marchin’ on, and sleep ‘as a way o’ makin’ me ferget  .  .  . well, I’d sure tucked it awa’ —that thar sleeve—mighty safe and sound.  So safe, I been comin’ to think that I’d be findin’ Blackbeard’s buried treasure o’gold, ‘afore I found that danged sleeve.

Then, lo and behold, whilst lookin’ for other missing loot, I did spot me somethin’ familiar!  Thar it was!   The elusive, nay, call it the legendary . . . missin’ silver sleeve 0′Paul!  Me thinks it may be a bit of a mystery sleeve!  Mayhap it be a lucky sleeve!  Aye—Paul Lucky Silver Sleeve—a grand, good buccaneer name!

So, ye see, the sleeve be alive and hale, and th’other labour that needs be done, can commence.  Rest easy, m’good friend, me hearty, Paul, ‘nd know that ye need not be thinkin’ ’bout th’ comin’ summer bein’  a summer wi’ nae sleeves!   Ye shall have both yer sleeves and some side panels to boot!

Yo ho!

'Tia's Soccer Ball

   Posted by: krmb    in Daily

10 June 2007
I am so frustrated; I took many photos of ‘Tia and her toy on this Sunday afternoon, only to find out — too lat,e — that all of them are blurry. The 1 1/2" screen on my Canon apparently isn’t good enough to tell that the damn shot is out of focus. This was, sadly, the least blurry of the batch; at least her eyes seem to be in focus:
Tia's Soccer Ball
This is ‘Tia. Normally she prefers a frisbee, but since some kind neighbour kid kicked this small soccer ball into my backyard she has taken to chasing it about and playing catch & fetch with it. She’s quite the dribbler, she is and she can trap the ball better than half the players on my adult co-ed team.
Cheers

Fleur de Lys Jail

12 June 2007

As I looked at this photo I’d taken of a neat little candleholder in our bedroom, all I could think of was that it looks like the bars of a jail cell, only decorated with a fleur de lys on each bar!

Silly.  Yes.  Sillier still is that I hadn’t taken any more interesting photos all day.

There’s always tomorrow.

Quarto by Her

11 June 2007

Kyle and I have owned this little miniature, magnetic Quarto game for years.  I cannot even remember where we got it—although I bet he still knows!  I know we love it—and we don’t play it nearly often enough.  In fact, for a number of years we were missing two or three of the pieces and would occasionally wonder aloud how we could get replacements.  Last winter, while moving some shelving around, I found the wayward playing pieces and the set is again complete, although still underused.

Now, with East Wind Games expanding a little more all the time, we are selling this game!  The full size game is even more beautiful, and it was a good seller this season.   I am grateful we owned this one little game, that helped remind us to find a source, and make them available to our customers.

Incidentally, Kyle kicks ass at this game, and totally beat me the last time we played.  He did allow, however, that my playing was more competitive for him than most of his recent opponents!  <wink>

Trailer Day

10 June 2007

This photo of the pretty wildflowers in the parking lot at Scarborough Renaissance Festival was taken just after I pulled into the site, and just seconds before I realised that my left foot was covered in fire ants!  Yep–I managed to stand right in a big bed of the buggers to take this photo, and literally seconds later I was ripping off my sneaker and my sock and doing the fire ant dance.  Thankfully, my reactions were quick enough that I survived the ordeal quite well, but I am even more convinced than ever, that those creatures really do not serve any positive purpose on this earth.

After dealing with the hellish ants, and getting to the Pendragon booth only to discover the power was off, and I had half an hour’s work to do before I could even open the doors— it probably isn’t even necessary to say that I was already cranky, even before the work began.

Fortunately, Donny and Mary showed up not too long after I did, and having them there with me helped to motivate me.  It was a hard, hot, miserable day, but we were done and on our way home by about 5:15 p.m. or so.  What I’ve come to call “Trailer Day” is over.  The booth is packed down, and only a couple of hours work remain to me on one subsequent visit—sometime early this week.

Shadow Fans

   Posted by: krmb    in Daily

9 June 2007
A day full of work. I got an email from a customer claiming that the site I maintain for them wasn’t working. Since I’d needed to do some work on it anyway, I took the opportunity and jumped right in. Many hours later, it was bedtime and the only thing to come to mind was the fact that I’d not photo’ed the day.
Shadow Fans
I really liked, when I looked, the shadowplay on the ceiling. However, the photo does little to justify it.
Cheers.
