Artemis Helping in the Workshop . . . yeah, right!

Artemis Helping in the Workshop . . . yeah, right!

15 April 2009

Blessings upon Cindy, our accountant, who filed an extension for us, once again. The powers that be, obviously didn’t realize what a drain on my time the springtime months are, or they would not have the national tax deadline fall in April! ;-)

While many folks were rushing to get last-minute time-stamps on their IRS-bound documents, I was watching The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas on television while working on Larry’s order. At two a.m., my cat alarm went off, and Artemis decided the only place she was interested in sitting, was right on top of Larry’s breeches as they lay on my work table. I decided she was as good a photo opportunity as any I’d had all day, so guess what? Another cat photo; another sewing project photo! I sure hope life gets a little more diverse pretty soon!

Breeches for Larry

Larry's Breeches

14 April 2009

Yep, more of the same. Larry’s outfit has begun to take shape . . . at least the bottom half.

Unfortunately, not a lot of progress happened on them today. I spent much of today with Stephen, as his doctor decided he was sick enough to be back in the hospital. Sending warm, healing light and energy and prayer his way . . .

Brocade Panes for Larry

Larry's Panes

13 April 2009

A day of numbers and counting and ordering and telephoning . . . in short, a Monday.

And Mondays are even crazier, when deadlines loom.  No time for much in the way of writing or picture-taking.  Here’s a close-up of the panes for Larry’s new breeches. I wish I could have gotten the colours to come out truer, but try as I might, this is the best I could do.

Crystal and Lionel's Wedding Day

Crystal and Lionel

12 April 2009
Easter Sunday

After a night of very hard rain that had me out of bed shortly after five o’clock and dealing with the leaky booth, when the cannon sounded the clouds were containing themselves. The remaining rain in the forecast skirted around the fairesite, and in fact, by early afternoon, we were experiencing a truly beautiful day. Unfortunately, the radar and the weathermen scared most folks into staying at home and/or indoors. So, the few patrons who did attend the festival practically had the place to themselves!

The silver lining, though, is that we had lots of time to be relaxed about getting Lionel and Crystal into their new finery for their wedding. We took deep breaths, and were able to focus on each individual aspect of the dressing process. I handed my camera to Maria who dutifully took some very nice photos of the bride and groom as I got them dressed in their many layers. Those photos, and a few I shot at the wedding itself, can be seen on my Flickr stream, in a set called Crystal and Lionel’s Wedding.

From a business standpoint, Sunday left much to be desired.  We managed to have fun, anyway, but we were sure ready to  head home when all was said and done.  Kyle and I enjoyed our quiet dinner at Chili’s on the way home, and even I was in bed by midnight!

Guinness & Bills

15 April 2009
Tax Day in the good ol’ U.S. But, far more importantly, Arsenal took on Villareal at the Emirates. The match would decide who would go through to play Manchester United in the semi-finals of the Champion’s League.
Guinness x2
I enjoyed the match at the Plaza Pub in Arlington while sipping on Guinness. Very enjoyable!
Cheers.

Happiness is a Warm Gun

12 April 2009
Easter Sunday after massive overnight storms and Scarborough Faire is as devoid of patrons as I’ve ever seen in 28 years.
Happiness is a Warm Gun
Happiness is a warm gun
Happiness is a warm gun, mama
When I hold you in my arms
and I feel my finger on your trigger
I know nobody can do no harm
Because Happiness is a warm gun mama
Happiness is a warm gun, yes it is
Happiness is a warm, yes it is, gun
Ah, don’t you know that
Happiness is a warm gun mama
–Beatles

Cheers.

0805 Hat

11 April 2009
Happy Birthday, Mother!
Second Saturday of the festival and a fine, busy day it was. Loads of people came out to play in the historical sandbox we have built. Much fun was had by all, but not many photographs by me.
My Hat and I
This photo is both my 0805 and my photo of the day. The hat is an Elizabeth-style chapeau from La Paloma Hats with a vintage feather spray. It’s one of my favourite hats.
Cheers.

Bedside Still Life at Faire

Bedside Still Life at Faire

11 April 2009

Happy Birthday, Mum!

Another busy day at faire! And a good thing, too, considering that Sunday is expected to be rainy and icky. We wrapped up the day with a dinner amongst good friends at Campuzano’s!  It was wonderful to have Vince and Terry and Ellie visiting with us, and Bill and Wendy came to faire and stayed for dinner, as well!  But, all day, I had no time for photos and so, at bedtime, this shot of the little table next to my side of the bed, is what we get.
