Trim on my Bag

Trim on my Bag

21 May 2009

The last Thursday of faire. My last night to stay up late sewing . . . I’m about to get two hours of sleep!
I am getting it all done, though—that’s the good news.  No time for lengthy writing—just a quick snapshot of some trim on a bag I made for myself back in the fall.  Kyle is not the only one who enjoys macro photography! ;-)

Advertisements at Dinner

20 May 2009
Marita Beth & I went to dinner at Abuelo’s. We took with us a packet that arrived earlier in the day from a game distributor with whom I am attempting to open an account. While flipping through the catalogue and sipping on my margarita, I realized just how very much I miss the daily read, learn, order routine of the game industry. Perhaps some day, I will really grow East Wind Games into that sort of reality. One can hope.
Game of Thrones: The Card Game
This is a partial view of an advertisement in one of the rags included in the packet. It’s for a CCG (Collectible Card Game) based on the Song of Fire & Ice series by George R.R. Martin. I also learned yesterday that the first book in the series, A Game of Thrones is soon to be made into an HBO series. We’ll see.
Cheers.

Close-up of an amazingly photogenic yet increasingly bi-polar cat.

Good thing she’s pretty.

White Cat and Blackwatch

White Cat and Blackwatch

20 May 2009

Today is the last hump day during Scarborough . . . the light at the end of the tunnel is getting very bright!

I worked this morning, and then spent much of the day away from the house . . . airport errand, a couple of shopping stops, and then dinner tonight with Kyle.  I finished my day’s work just a short while ago . . . and somehow, the hour has gotten horribly late!  I’m off to a quick shower and then bed.

While I was working tonight, I took a few photos of Artemis — I know . . . what’s new?  But, I thought this one was especially cute.  The tartan is an order I’m working on for the friend of a friend . . .I’m pretty sure it’s blackwatch, but, if I’m wrong, I’m sure someone will let me know! ;-)

Flintlock Guard

16 May 2009
Saturday at faire and I fear my introvert personality came out in full force. I try to keep it at bay, in fact hidden from view, most of the time. But, by midday on Sunday I was simply done with people. I was tired, irritated and easily angered. So, I dropped myself into a chair in the corner and let my exceptional staff run the shop. I was there to answer questions when necessary, but for the greater part I was left alone and to my own devices. I’m okay with that.
This is the trigger guard on one of the flintlocks I sometimes carry on my person during a faire day.
Flintlock Guard
This weekend’s theme being "Pirate Invasion" it made sense to carry an anachronistic "pirate" weapon. And, it fits the up close & personal mini-challenge still.
Cheers.

A Lepidopterist I Am Not

15 May 2009
Friday night and once again out to faire we went. There was no product for East Wind Games this week, so Marcus, Marita Beth & I sat and chewed the fat and drank the wine while Marita Beth sewed 33 (crazy superstitions) buttons onto a cassock she was finalizing. That is, until the bugs came out. While I was off in another part of the shop taking closeups of some bugs over there, this guy came and landed on the cassock.
Up Close
His wingspan was nearly as big as my palm and he was gloriously fuzzy. I wish he was more colourful and what species he was. But, I got up close and personal with him nonetheless.
Cheers.

Candle

14 May 2009
I take photos of candles a lot. I know. Good thing I like candles, because I’m surrounded by them at home. There’s almost always one burning when we are in the house.

Guinness Mouse

13 May 2009
Wow. I’m way behind in posting. Let’s see what I can do to fix that.
This is a closeup shot of my optical mouse and mousepad at work.
Guinness Mouse
I’m experimenting with a little "less is more" attitude in my photos, but in this case, I might have been better served to show as much of the mousepad as possible since it has such a great message on it.
The mousepad states "Have a Guinness when you’re tired"…so I do.
Frequently.

Cheers.
