Red, White & Yellow

10 July 2009
I’ve just recently re-connected all the plugs from the various elements of a "Home Theatre" system. While doing so, I realised a fairly decent photo opportunity was in front of me. If only the reality met the imagined result a little better.
Red, White & Yellow
Cheers.

Yet another photo detailing the excitement that is Kyle’s cubicle life.

You can see my laptop on its riser just above the keyboard I use. Laptop connects to a docking station to which I have a second monitor, the keyboard & mouse connected. Exciting.
Cheers.

Lanyard Collection

8 July 2009
One of the hazards of working in the corporate world these days is the continued arrival and/or gifting of lanyard-style badge holders. Since badges are ubiquitous these days, lanyards have become the de-facto freebie at trade shows and the easy-to-get gift for vendors. In the past few years, I’ve amassed quite a collection.

Cheers.

Fungus

Fungus

9 July 2009

I so wanted to take a photo of this crazy thing during the daylight, but I forgot. And, then, late tonight as we walked in from the parking lot, I realized I had taken no photo today at all. So, I dug out my camera, and took this one in the dark.

Craziest darned fungus I’ve ever seen! It’s at the base of a tree in front of Ginger’s shop. Looks exactly like coral, only . . . it’s not!

Today was errand day. I went to the bank, the laundromat, Hobby Lobby, and three thrift stores. I’m on a quest for an item to fulfill a display idea revelation. No luck, yet. Tomorrow, Menard’s, grocery store, Target, Pier One, and any place else I have time to search.

Perfectly delightful dinner with Shannon, Kyrana, Kelly and Chad at Chad’s house tonight. Yummy food! Good wine. Awesome company.

Friends at the Furnace

Friends by the Furnace

8 July 2009

Trailer Day at Bristol. The day I have helped lined up to unload all the heavy tubs, boxes, and many hanging garments that make our Pendragon Costumes shoppe look full and beautiful. A hard, strenuous day to be sure. Once the trailer is unloaded, then, the product must all be unpacked and arranged. With a constantly changing line, last year’s placing and methods may not work, so each new year is a challenge.

The day began, though, with breakfast at the furnace in the Girl Glass Studio. My picture is of Shannon and Kelly as they continued to chat after I left my chair and decided they were pefect subject matter for today’s KRuMB. Our morning visits are always wonderful—the perfect start to any day.

Kat in a New Window with a Broom

Kat With Broom

7 July 2009
No, I did not forget Ronnie’s Birthday! I just forgot to call. Happy Birthday, my friend!

The first day of dealing with a booth after ten months of human absence is always so special. I am blessed with some very good friends here in Wisconsin, who work for me in the booth, and who are also willing to come and do some early cleaning and prep work for me before I get here. Those folks are the only reason I had the luxury of an extra day or two with my husband before hitting the road. I cannot thank them enough.

Oh, and thanks to Sean and Amber, I have windows that now open with hinges to allow for the heat to escape our booth! Yay! My photo is of Kat, my assistant manager, in one of those new working windows.

All that being said, however, I am apparently, much more picky than most people would be—hush, all of you!—;-)—and I always have to do a bit of more thorough cleaning that what anybody thinks to do for me. So, this first day here, was a dirty, icky, gritty, day of sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, wiping, washing, moving stuff, and generally getting everything ready for the next day which would be “trailer day.” There was even painting that had to be done this year (thank you Gregg and Susan!). It seems that 96 inches of snow laying around for a while will really take its toll on roofs and walls!

But, it got done. We’re ready for the product to move in. That’s tomorrow.

And, again—Happy Birthday, Ronnie!

Wrapper & Wicker

7 July 2009
Long, tough, productive day at work followed by some mediocre pool at Rob’s followed by fast food for dinner..again.
Remains of Dinner
Warehouse 13 on SyFy (idiotic name, great channel – in my opinion, they should have left it as SciFi, but they have a whole raft of reasons for changing names) was super. It’s what I watched while scarfing bad tacos.
Cheers.

My Own Private Hell

6 July 2009
The first full day without my wife at home. It’s always jarring when this day comes because I know it will be many weeks, if not months, before I see her again. But, trudge on I must. I got up, let the dogs out, made my own breakfast, did the normal morning work-from-home bit, made my lunch then left for work. I’d driven a mile or so, then returned home, let the dogs in, fed them and crated them. Then I left for work…again. I miss you, Marita Beth.
Outside the Bun
Yep, that was dinner. Tack Bell. I think the quote is fitting, because that’s frequently how I feel when I have to resort to Taco Bell for my "nourishment".
Cheers.

Fiery Sky & Football

5 July 2009
Sunday. Marita Beth left very early today to begin her long, lonely trek to the North for the Summer. There are so many times & reasons I wish I could pack up and go with her, but corporate (read: fiscal) responsibilities keep me in Texas. She gets to enjoy much cooler weather overall while I get to enjoy the typical Texas Summer heat.
That heat, luckily, broke yesterday with a "cold front" that came through. That front brought with it a little bit of rain, too, so although it was cooler (89° F) temperature wise, the 85% humidity made it feel as though it was in the mid 90s when we took the field for our regular Sunday night football match. I only played a few minutes, perhaps 15, of the game due to a hamstring strain. I chose to not play after straining it so that I can heal and play out the remainder of the season. That decision afforded me the opportunity to take a few photos. This one I got near the end of the match of the opposing keeper & his domain silhouetted against a brilliant fiery sky.
Fire Over the Field
Cheers.

Bridge in Davenport

Pretty Bridge Architecture

6 July 2009

Day Two of the trip to Wisconsin was also relatively uneventful. I did make a stupid mistake in the Davenport, Iowa, Moline, IL area. My photo is of the first bridge I travelled today, to cross the Mississippi. It wasn’t big or overly impressive, just really pretty in its coat of bright blue paint.

I crossed over that same river, at least twice more, on different bridges! I misinterpreted the map, vs. the highway I was on as a result of a major detour. I took the highway exchange I thought I needed only to realize I was headed in the opposite direction from what I’d intended. I finally figured it out, and figured out a little more about the GPS in my new phone in the process. That is going to be completely wonderful once I really understand how to use it.

At any rate, I got into the faire site around 6 something—having begun my drive at 6:45 this morning. A very long day, and then much cleaning to be done before I could really settle in and sleep here. Grrrr. But, the cobwebs and dust are gone now, and the bed is made and I’m soon to be in it. The cat already is.
