Sleeve Panels

Sleeve Panels

20 November 2009

I managed to get one of Allen’s sleeves almost done before leaving town today. Enough, anyway, to do the fitting and know I’m on the right track. Melissa’s outfit is totally done, and Allen’s is within a couple days’ work of being complete. Whew!

So, now we’re at TRF . . . it’s raining and not showing signs of stopping.

Blazing Sun, Mug & a Barrel

14 November 2009
One of those times when the concept of the photo just didn’t translate to the reality. I had such hopes for the composition, but I couldn’t quite pull it off. Must try again.
Blazing Sun
Cheers.

Hair Smutz

13 November 2009
Another Friday, another trip to the Texas Renaissance Festival. By the time we got there, I realized I’d taken no photos, so I grabbed the camera and took some photos of “hair smutz” that Marita Beth on occasion wears in her hair. it’s great fun.
Yarn Braids
Cheers.

Red Beads

12 November 2009
We accidentally dropped a glass vase full of glass marbles on our tile floor this evening. Guess what? That’s a big damn mess. After scooping up as many marbles as we could find – hopefully we got them all – I took a photo of a bunch of them illuminated with rose tinted beam from my flashlight.
Red Beads
Cheers.

The Rahr Brewery

11 November 2009
Wednesday night. Some time back the Rahr brewery started doing Wednesday night tastings as well as Saturday night. I desperately needed some time off work, so MB picked me up from work and we went to the Rahr. What a great idea!
Rahr
I hope to be able to do this again sometime very soon.
Cheers.

Bubbles & Footy?

10 November 2009
I have a lot of stuff on my desk at work. Things that are designed to ground me or make me smile when things are going awry. Bubbles, the Powerpuff Girl and the football player I picked up in Portland many years ago are two of those things.
Bubbles plays Footy?
Cheers.

Glass Pumpkins

Glass Pumpkins

19 November 2009

Just a quick shot of some of the gorgeous blown glass pumpkins I helped to make this season. Shannon Jane Morgan of Girl Glass is the master glassblower — me . . . just the humble apprentice! I have them arranged on our dining room table in a fun little fall display. For all I can remember, I may have already taken a similar photo. But, on one of my trips from my garage workshop to the bathroom, these lovely shiny things caught my eye and begged for the camera. Besides, how many photos of my fabrics and trims and projects do you really want to see?

Okay . . . back to work . . .

Happy Birthday, Mickey!

The Guest Bed

18 November 2009

Who knows why I manage to remember this birthday better than those of my friends and family? But, today marks the mouse’s 81st birthday. Amazing.

Bodice in Process

Bodice in Process

17 November 2009

After way too much time spent trying to locate a particular piece of fabric in my workshop, I finally found it, and thereby averted disaster. So, it is with a much-eased stress level that I now continue work on this order for Melissa and Allen. And that is pretty much all I’ll be doing this week!

This is a fun shot of Melissa’s bodice actually on my machine.

The Top of His Head

The Top of His Head

16 November 2009

It was late when we finally got back to the booth and settled in on Sunday night. I didn’t know when I took this silly photo, though, that all of Monday would then come and go without my using my camera.

I was sitting on the floor at the foot of the bed, and Kyle was in the bed working on his computer . . . a constant thing with his current situation at work. I was amused by the fact that I could just barely see the very top of his head. Between that, and the crazy, happy colours of our room, it’s at least an entertaining photo.
