Rose Stems

1 December 2009
Marita Beth came home today having finished up the packing of the shop with help from Sean, Amber, Kat & others. She also brought home with her flowers that I had given her the weekend prior.
Rose Stems
These are their stems.
Cheers.

Corporate Autumn

30 November 2009
The last day of November, and fall has arrived in North Texas. Most years, we don’t get the kind of spectacular colours visited on other parts of the country. This year we did as witnessed in this photo from the fourth floor of my headquarters.

Cheers.

Cormac in the Mirror

29 November 2009
Back home in Arlington, TX, after leaving the faire part way through the day. Too much work on my plate in my corporate life for me to have taken the desired time off and stay with my wife at TRF. I picked up the dogs, took this cute photo of Cormac, then went home and straight to work.
Cormac in the Mirror
I suppose the good part about the work is that I can do it from home.
Cheers.

Clay at the Yellow House

28 November 2009
Nestled in behind the faire grounds is a thriving community of artists & artisans called Tune Town. In Tune Town (which is walking distance from the shop inside the faire) is a delightful little restaurant called the Yellow House. This year, we have called the Yellow House our dinner spot of choice for the price is right and the food is good. Therefore, the last Saturday night at faire represents for me, the last opportunity to eat at the Yellow House for a year. Luckily, we were surrounded by good friends

Sean is Eeeeveeel

27 November 2009
Our good friends Sean & Amber made the long drive from Wisconsin to Texas in order to visit the Texas Renaissance Festival on this, the final weekend of the show. We were absolutely delighted with their arrival, and we believe them to have been delighted with the show.
Sean
Late on Friday, I was messing around with the camera and took this fun shot of Sean. I’m disappointed with the fact that the camera focused on Sean’s hatband rather than his eyes, but I didn’t notice it until just now as I’m writing this. One of these days, I’ll be able to afford a real camera that will allow me to focus where I want to focus. Until then, I love the composition, but not the execution.
Cheers.

Henry’s Hideout

26 November 2009
Thanksgiving Day here in the U.S. It’s never been a holiday I’ve been overly fond of, so it was of no consequence to me when a couple of years ago the Texas Renaissance Festival decided to start opening on the Friday after Thanksgiving. That meant that on that Thanksgiving Day, Marita Beth & I would be travelling rather than stuffing ourselves silly with food I don’t like. This year, because I had to be back on Sunday for my corporate gig, we drove separate vehicles. She in her Yukon with trailer, and I in my Lancer. I drive faster than she, and left slightly earlier than she, so I found myself in Magnolia just before dusk. So, I went to Henry’s Hideout to watch the UT/A&M college football game. Marita Beth, Amber, Sean & Kat all joined me there for the 2nd half of that excellently played game.
Henry’s Hideout is a slice of Texas. One half is a bar that contains the largest selection of animal horns I’ve ever seen in my life. The entire ceiling of the bar area is covered in animal horns with the majority seeming to be deer. The other half of the building is Gilley’s dancehall and is owned by Keith Gilley, son of reknowned country artist, Mickey Gilley.
Henry's Hideout
If you should ever find yourself driving 1774 between Plantersville & Magnolia, do yourself a favour and drop in for a quick beer and a gander.
Cheers.

Pile of Fried Onions

25 November 2009
For some inexplicable reason, we went to Chili’s tonight for dinner. And even more inexplicably, we got a plate of onion straws. Neither MB nor I eat onions and this was long enough ago now that I cannot recall why the hell there were onions at our table. Oh well.

The Game Room

Many years ago, my wife built some curtains for my home office. The curtains are of a heavy, woven fabric depicting games of various sorts because, as you know, I am a gamer. I play games of all types, many of which are depcited in the marvelous fabric that adorns my windows. This is a tight close-up of one of the cards.

The Remote

While I personally believe AT&T to be the devil, I can’t deny the fact that their uVerse product is pretty good. Not nearly as good as it could be, but since satellite TV is no longer an option for me (too many trees) uVerse is a vastly preferrable alternative to cable.

Iris & Rose on Stage

22 November 2009
The Sunday at faire was brilliant with beautiful weather but it was also peopled with a great multitude of people who just "didn’t get it." I once again was pleased to be able to assist the lovely Iris & Rose at their show.
Afternoon Iris & Rose
