Pub Guys Pack Down

Pub Guys Pack Down

3 March 2010

As I write this, we are still sitting at the Firehouse Grill in Mansfield. The Pub Guys show went well, tonight, despite the fact that Bryan is sick and Terrill is on watch duty at the hospital with his wife. The three that were here did a great job. Kat and I had a good time, but I think we were the smallest PG1 crowd, yet. Where was everybody?

I took this shot as the guys were packing down all their equipment and about to order another beer.

The NFG Sign

I snapped this photo of the big sign at Lincoln Court, the local shopping plaza that is home to No Frills Grill. It is Tuesday, after all.

Knife Edge

28 February 2010
For some reason, Marita Beth wanted Chili’s tonight. So, after lounging around the house the majority of the day, we went there for some well-earned food.
Knife Edge
Yeah. That’s pretty much how the day went.
Cheers.

Wall Hangings

27 February 2010
Marita Beth & I started the day slow & slovenly. It was wonderful. Then, casually, I mentioned that I enjoyed the Crawfish Boil that No Frills Grill puts on every year. So, we slowly got dressed and ambled to the restaurant just in time for them to be…sold out. We did, however, manage to get a great parking space & a freshly vacated table in the bar so it wasn’t a complete loss. In fact, Jill & Brett joined us within moments of our arrival. While there, Jill got a call that Hobby Lobby was doing 80% off on certain things that might fit my needs at East Wind Games. So, MB & I finished up our beers & food and headed to Hobby Lobby…then Ross…then TJ Maxx. I took this photo at Hobby Lobby.

The evening was to be a birthday party at Curtis’s house that we’d been looking forward to. But, unfortunately, that didn’t happen – sorry, Curtis.  Happy Birthday, mate.
Cheers.

Late in the evening, a photo not yet taken, tacks to the rescue.

The Screwpull

25 February 2010
I had really hoped that this photo would be crisper than it is. In the end, I got distracted by a “doggy accident” and never went back to re-take any photos. But, I did get a pretty good bottle of wine out of the deal.
Screwpull
Cheers.

Big Shots

24 February 2010
Another PubGuys show. This show took place at Big Shots Sports Cafe in Bedford. While Big Shots is not necessarily my favorite PubGuys location, it’s a great bar in and of itself. They have an excellent selection of food complemented with a pretty decent selection of beer. If you find yourself in Bedford, check out Big Shots.
Big Shots
Cheers.

Mimi’s Bloody Mary

21 February 2010
This Sunday, one of our last free until June, we found ourselves a bottle shy of our regular Zing Zang. I could have run to the store & bought some – because we now can buy mixers on Sunday although we still cannot buy alcohol (bloody stupid Texas laws), but instead opted to take the wife on a ride to the Highlands where we angled in for Brunch/Lupper at Mimi’s. We were told 15 minutes would be our wait, so we headed into the bar – where we waited 10, at the bar, for someone to even acknowledge us. No sooner had we placed our order for two bloody marys then our buzzer went off and we left to be seated. The bartender subsequently brought very subpar bloody marys to our table to complement our exceptional breakfast foods.

Cheers.

Kokopelli & Bear

20 February 2010
A Saturday and, frankly, I can’t remember what I did or where I went or why. However, this photo is of a Kokopelli I picked up in Santa Fe on a ski trip many years ago, and an Arsenal FC bear that my wife got for me even further back. They ride shotgun in my little Lancer with me.
Kokopelli and Bear
When Lucinda the Lancer gives up, the Kokopelli & the Bear will have a new ride.
Cheers.

Eggdrop Soup

19 February 2010
Holy shit, but photographing soup is hard! I had no idea. I tried & failed to take numerous photos of a fairly attractive soup, but failed – miserably – eventually giving up and taking this photo of the bowl and wonton strips
Eggdrop Soup.
The dinner, however, was a delightfully spur of the moment evening out with my wife, marred only by the über-geek behind the counter that insisted on talking at us.
Cheers.
