Some years back, an unassuming building was erected next to a now-defunct German restaurant. We ignored it. As of late, however, with MB’s newly found enjoyment of pubs in general, it made the radar, but still we always wound up at other bars; until yesterday that is.
I have now marked another bar off my list, but I have a long way to go to have all the beers.
This is a beer bar to the nth degree with over 240 beers available for purchase with a huge number of them on draught and a even larger selection being Wisconsin beers.
The photo is of the no-longer-up-to-date beer list that stares down on newcomers from the rafters; it is huge!
We will be back!Cheers.

Marita Beth & I spent the majority of the day in Kenosha, WI hopping from antiques to boutiques to bars. Downtown is charming with the potential to be oh so much more. It seems that a couple of entitled families are holding the majority of the buildings (and thus, tenants) hostage at unreasonably inflated prices waiting for that “just around the corner” Kenosha boom.
Frankly, I don’t see it happening until one of the stubborn families loses a pivotal, influential player in the game of real estate.
Here’s to Kenosha and its coming boom.Cheers.

The annual trip to the Milwaukee Irish Fest has Skerryvore, a Glaswegian group of 7 youngsters, on my radar for the first time. Lovely sound.
Cheers.

Once again I find myself winging through the air in a small(ish) metal box on the way to Omaha, Nebraska. Once there I will while away the time in the small bar some 60 yards or so from Gate 7. Once my time is up, I will board, hopefully, an even smaller metal flying machine bound for Chicago where my charmingly ebullient wife will whisk me north to Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Ahh, the delights of travel; beer in 4 states in 4 hours.
Cheers.~KR

For years now I have tried to quell and dispel rumours that working in the airline industry was somehow glamorous. Querying statements like “Oh, how cool. You must get to travel a lot.” and “You get to fly free? That’s great.” are the norm. The reality could not be further from the truth.
This photo, taken out the window of the tiny little Embraer Jet that I am on, was taken somewhere over the Midwest as I wing my way to Omaha, Nebraska.
Why, you ask?
Because working in the airline industry is decidedly NOT glamorous. I have to get home and there are simply no direct routes with space for me, from ORD to DFW during the summer months. So, to accomplish this homeward- bound journey I am flying to OMA where I will wait for four hours and hope (HOPE) to get on a bird bound for DFW.
This is not the glamorous job I hoped for and people believe I have.Cheers.

Marita Beth, Kelly and myself have a dinner engagement over an hour from the faire. Rather than wait around and drive the distance in one swoop we are making an afternoon of it and pub-hopping our way from Kenosha, WI to Lake in the Hills, IL.
This is our second stop in the charming unincorporated hamlet of Salem. Siebert’s Pub has stood in this location since 1880 but has been lovingly cared for.Cheers.

This morning at bells, MaritaBeth and I strode down the lane and around the corner to engage in some natal festivities with our dear Delaenya. We could not stay long as MB had a shop to which she must return and I had yet to don appropriate clothing. However, I did take this photo of the fine sign above the studio.
Cheers.

Driving through the hinterlands of Wisconsin, we arrived at the quaint village of Burlington. Dinner was nigh and this seemed a perfect opportunity. We were so right.
I will post later full details of the culinary, visual and historical experience.

On a lark my wife says to me, “Let’s go to the lighthouse.” I’ve never been to a lighthouse, so I said “Well, okay.” And thus, off we went. I wish the buildings had been open, especially the lighthouse itself, but they weren’t. We sat, instead on the bank of Lake Michigan and enjoyed the birds, the waves, the breeze and each other’s company.~KR
