After the Rain

After the Rain

26 April 2008

Apparently, the rain that passed through Waxahachie this week, was far more severe than what we saw in Arlington.  This is the mess that greeted us this weekend upon arriving at faire. What you can’t see in this photo, is the water mark, a good three inches high!  Somehow, through what might as well be divine intervention, the interior of the booth was wet only where it leaks from above!  No flood!  Whew!

What’s really amazing about all this, is that when this booth was built, we were a good six inches higher than the land in front of us.  It used to be a slight problem for a wheelchair—a big bump.  Now, we’re down hill from road, and therefore, from everything on the other side of the road.  Stuff washes onto our front deck all the time!  And there seems to be little that can be done about it, short of paving the area between the booth and the lane.  <sigh>

Saturday was a great day—nice weather, happy patrons, good sales.  At halfway through the faire now, we’re grateful for an average day, much less a good one!  It was a little muddy, but, hey . . . it wouldn’t really be Scarborough without a little mud somewhere along the way!

We decided at the last minute to join friends Vince and Terri for dinner at Campuzano’s.   So, we missed out on our usual fun and fellowship after faire, but, we had a wonderful, and all too rare time together with these folks from Houston.  Sometimes, Texas is just too big!
