Autumnal Windfall

Fallen Leaves

Being only .4 miles from the Montgomery Park office building, we walked to work each morning this past week. This particular batch of leaves caught my eye as I walked over it in a rare sunny patch.

Nob Hill, Portland, Oregon

A View of Nob Hill

From a window of the excellent Montgomery Park office building, we got this view. The rain had abated somewhat so I took the respite to snap this shot. I believe this to be Nob Hill just off NW 23rd Street & Vaughn. Spectacular!

McMenamins in the Rain

McMenamins Tavern

Arrived in Portland safely, but in the rain. Temperature was in the low 50′s and I was as comfortable (weather-wise) as I’ve been all year. It was damn near perfect.
Our business meeting is over for the day, so we hoofed it down NW 23rd street to this tavern for lovely Portland brews, some food and some company. Since it was night, and it was raining, and I had no tripod, I rested the camera on a handy newspaper dispenser for the long exposure required. Thus the tilt.

Monday Night Football at No Frills Grill

Day Six of our experiment and I’m leaving town. MB and I decide at the last minute to go watch a bit of Monday Night Football at our local bar & grill. I’ve yet to take a photo on this day (as it was chock-full of last-minute doings and goings for the trip), so here it is.

Shhhhhh . . .

8/11/06

Oh, what a life this cat has!  Sleeping the day away.  Must be nice.

Usually, I don’t take her photo when I can’t see her face, but she was so cute and peaceful and the colour was so nice with her sleeping on all the Mickeys.  Besides, the dogs had their day yesterday–it was the cat’s turn!

I just talked to Kyle who has managed to take quite a few pictures in Portland, despite having to work some pretty long hours.  He’ll do all of his uploading and posting on Saturday, I surmise.  So, he’ll have a bunch of beautiful photos of mountains and rainy days and brew pubs, while I’ve got dogs and a cat!  I really need to get out more!

We miss you, Kyle

Into the Goblet

Into the goblet . . . <imagine spooky voice, here> Commmme innnnntoooooo the gaaaablet!  Again with the nighttime experiments–natural light makes such shots so interesting.

Ghost in Red

It’s hard to believe this photo was taken at nearly 11 p.m.  Fully dark, but with a full moon.  An amazingly beautiful full moon, I might add.  We played here in the coliseum for quite a while, hoping to have some acceptable photos out of it.  This fun shot is a long exposure, with Kyle moving from bench to bench.  The long exposure is why the shot looks like it’s in daylight, and what allows the “ghost” to be visible.  It’s a good thing he was wearing a bright colour, ’cause it wouldn’t have been nearly so cool if he’d been all in black.

note:  Interesting thing, this . . . me writing for him.  The plan was to “take” a photo  a day,  and post them here.  Although the posting cannot always happen daily, the use of the camera must be an every day thing.  What we didn’t discuss much, was what text would accompany each photo.  I have more time than he does while he’s travelling for work.  So, I’m doing some of his writing.  And since I’m the wordy one of the two of us, I guess that works.

What is it?

I know, do you?

Ready to go Home

5/11/06

This photo is proof positive that taking a picture each day, is totally different from taking a good picture every day.  This is the one and only photo I snapped on Sunday.  It sucks, and I’m embarassed, but it’s up!  End of a long weekend–long drive still ahead.  No time to be creative–just click!  And voila!  A lousy photo of Mary Dane and Kyle relaxing behind the booth, waiting for their spouses to finish the packing dance.
