Day Two of my birthday! I love that! My family has always been pretty big on stretching birthday celebrations into multiple days . . . thanks, Mama! So, it was a wonderful surprise, when despite the fact that my birthday was yesterday, many, many of my friends at faire were determined to have fun celebrating with me today! I got roses—one from Kimbelle and one from our friend James. Then, midway into the day, I ran across the street to East Wind Games to give Kyle a tiny pin I’d bought for him (one that says: “I’m a pirate; this IS my business suit”) and turned around to leave, only to find myself completely surrounded by pirates! The crew of The Blazing Sun had all crept into the shoppe behind me, and proceeded to present me with a birthday card, a song, and an adorable little cake, decorated with the Blazing Sun logo! I nibbled on that throughout the afternoon, and later in the day, there appeared on my counter, a huge, decadently chocolate-y, chocolate cake, decorated with chocolate shavings, truffles, and my favourite milk chocolate squares filled with caramel yumminess! This one was gifted on behalf of my wonderful staff and of course, had Miss Mary’s fingerprints all over it! Just looking at this photo is practically guaranteed to make you hungry!
I had a silly realization when the day first began to turn toward an extension of the birthday event—if I celebrate for two days, I only have to claim 23 years per day!

Note: Incidentally, our research has finally resolved the question of identification of the curious caterpillar I used as my photo a few days ago. I narrowed it down to the fact that it was a variety of Tussock Moth. Then, the wonderful people at whatsthatbug.com further solved my mystery by writing to me, and informing me it is a Yellow Based Tussock Moth. Here’s a photo of what he’ll be after metamorphosis. In fact, they not only emailed me personally, but my letters and their response, actually got included in their wonderful website! I’m so proud!
