I returned to work on the 12th to find that the company that manages our servers for us did a database upgrade over the weekend without informing me. That meant that every application I own that talks to the database – and there are dozens of them – broke. I spent all day Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday on the phone with various members of various teams scattered through my company, Microsoft, the database company and the company that manages our servers for us. It was a 3 day round-the-clock effort to get everything back on line. No photos were taken during the entire event.
I feel your pain.
