Kyle, his camera, and a margarita

Kyle, his camera and a margarita

24 April 2008

After a number of non-stop days and nights, full of commitments, and appointments and even time spent with wonderful friends, Kyle and I finally had a couple of hours this evening for a “date.”  We had to go to the grocery store, and we stole an hour and a half first, to go to Mexican Inn and sit across the table from one another and have a fairly tasty meal.  We were annoyed that our server never checked on us, once we were into our meal—causing the missed opportunity for a “last call.”  But, they close early, and we were there late, so it is what it is.  While we were there, we both played with our cameras, taking photos of each other.  This is one I took of him that amuses me.  The cute one he got of me, now resides on his new blackberry-style phone!

The majority of the day was spent in retail therapy.  Actually, it was a working trip to the mid-Dallas fabric stores and Om and Sam Moon.  I found fabric I needed for Joe’s order.  I found some fabulous purple and gold for  . . . well, you know who. I even found some great hunter green cotton damask brocade—a hard-to-find colour and quality!   I found some fabulous findings and chains and the like for making period girdle chains.  And I picked up a few other things that I know will find good purposes in life, as well.  All told, I think I spent about twelve dollars that wasn’t specifically for A Wardrobe in Time.  And, I had for company, dear friend Susabella, and the two of us are a good shopping team!

And in between the two events, I met with Joe and Starr, for Joe’s first fitting.  My mock-up was not as successful as I’d have liked, but it provided the spring board for a quick re-patterning, and a subsequently perfect mock-up, while they waited.  It’s all good.
