Sharon's fabric

Sharon's fabric

8 February 2007

It’s been a wonderfully productive day—and this is the fabric pile to prove it!  Our friend,  (and my customer!) Sharon, drove in from Houston last night and spent the night in our Mickey Mouse guest room/office.  Except for brief visits to IHOP and Boston Market for breakfast and lunch, respectively, and a not so brief, trivia-filled dinner with Kyle at No Frills, Sharon and I spent the entire day, sorting through fabric she brought with her, choosing more fabric from my own stash in my workshop, and designing Renaissance period outfits for her and her husband.  We’ve been planning to get together and do this for about eight months, and one thing or another always got in the way.  On a faire day, there’s never really enough time to make detailed plans and decisions about one major custom order, much less three or four!  And so, Sharon had decided she wanted some quality one on one time with her seamstress, and I was happy to oblige.  It was, in fact, a delightful, creative day, filled with fun and laughter as well as a sense of accomplishment.   In the background of the photo you can see the big Rubbermaid tubby that will be put to the test, but will still not quite hold all of Sharon’s fabric!

Colourful Curtains

27 January
IMG_0068
Back in Floriday and it’s time to place my Grandmother-in-law in her final resting place. I didn’t even take my camera to the services, so on this day I am content with a photo of the colourful curtains adorning the window of the spare bedroom in my in-laws house.
R.I.P. Gammy!

737 Aisle View

View from the floor of a 737
Back on the plane, and back to Florida. This week it seems I spent more time in the air than on the ground. We were nearly on the ground when I took this photo; I figured I better get a snap in now, or it wasn’t going to happen for the day. Not a good photo, but a photo nonetheless.

He won't tell me . . .

He won't tell me . . .

7 February 2007

. . . his name.  He’s been living on the shelf next to the bed for a couple of months, now.  He came home from an errand run with Kyle one day*, and he seems happy here.  He actually reminds me quite a bit, of Cormac!  But, he simply will not tell me his name.  Can anybody out there, hear him?

8 February 2007

*I just figured out why he wouldn’t tell me his name.  I think he had his feelings hurt that I couldn’t even remember where he came from !  Tonight, looking at him just as I have every night, it came back to me!  He didn’t just come home from an errand run . . . he actually talked Kyle into bringing him home to me where we were staying at the Tremont Hotel in Galveston for Dickens on the Strand!  Kyle and George were shopping, and killing some time on Friday morning of that weekend, and this little guy showed up on my pillow soon thereafter!  Maybe now that he knows I care enough to remember his story, he’ll open up a little more and let me know his name.
