Pendragon Bird

Pendragon Bird

2 May 2009

Springtime on fairesite—you never know what adventures are in store. This year, we have a couple of small birds–variety unknown—who have made their nest in the corner of the Pendragon Costumes booth. We have watched them come and go for weeks with building materials, and now we hear the fervent cries of baby birds wanting food! This photo is of one of the adult birds who busily tends the babies.

It’s definitely a wren, I can tell by the tail. I’m still checking iBird for the different species, I’ll let you know!

I *think* it’s a Marsh Wren? The breeding range doesn’t quite dip down into Texas, but they do migrate here, so I guess it’s possible (we have had a pretty mild spring!). It definitely looks the most similar of all the birds I looked at. Do you have any more pictures? I’ll have to play the song on my phone when I’m out there and see if he answers!
