3 April 2007
I got up from the sewing machine, stretched and decided to go get the mail, at about 4 o’clock this afternoon. As I stepped outside our front door, this is the sight that greeted me.
These great little lizards seem to like our driveway and front porch. Years ago, we would see little tiny ones, and never anything bigger. My two indoor/outdoor cats took care of that! But, now, it’s been most of eight years or so since we had an outdoor cat, and these pretty reptiles are more and more visible every year. This guy was at least six inches long, just in the body–his tail nearly doubled that. And he was relaxed—I had time to go back inside, get my camera, come back outside, and take a bunch of photos before he got tired of entertaining me, and scampered off. So, I stepped off the porch, headed toward the mailbox and there was another lizard on the driveway. I took photos of him, too, but this one came out better.
By the time I go to bed tonight, Michael’s order will be done! One more big one this week, and I’ll be ready for opening weekend!
