Sunset Birds 1

23 January 2010

I drove to Addison today—drove up Midway from 635, and didn’t shop for fabric. I had a more important mission. It was time to pay for my sofa!

Daily KRuMB readers may remember that one lovely day back in the early fall, I had a chance encounter with the most beautiful sofa that was just meant to be mine. Its upholstery *exactly* matched that of our two big over-sized chairs. It was in a liquidation sale, and was only available through November . . . or so they said. After much consideration I painfully decided that the timing and the price just didn’t combine to make it possible, so with much sadness, I let the deadline come and go and tried to forget about the missed opportunity. Then, about a week ago, came the phone call telling me, they’d had an extension on their lease, and were finally closing their doors at the end of January. They still had “my couch” . . . did I still want it?

Did I want it? I was overjoyed, and delighted that they were willing to sell it to me for considerably less than the price had been three months ago. Still a sizeable investment, Kyle and I deliberated about it for quite a while, and finally decided it was in fact, the thing to do. I mean what are the chances that opportunity knocks twice?

So, today I drove over there, paid for it, and began making arrangements to move it. I am so excited I can hardly stand it.

Kyle spent some time at No Frills while I was gone, and when I got home we grabbed some dinner, and made a necessary stop at the grocery store (necessary if there are to be bloody marys tomorrow, that is!) Upon exiting our Kroger store, we looked up and saw the most amazingly colourful sunset . . . and then the birds! I had to take photos, and the one I’ve chosen to share is the best of the lot. Many of the others are on my Flickr stream.
