Bottle Cap

19 March 2012

I had an appointment this afternoon with my current acupuncturist, arriving only a few minutes early, I jumped out of my truck and quickly went into the building. An hour or so later, having been pricked, zapped and massaged, I paid my copay (insurance that covers acupuncture rocks!) and headed out the door. I move a little slower after lying still for an hour, so I had time to look down as I stepped off the curb. And, there, on the ground between the curb and my truck, was this bottle cap from the Rahr Brewery! I was completely caught off guard by it—what was the likelihood? I suppose it’s possible that it actually came out of my truck … perhaps my skirt swept it from the floor under my feet, to the ground … but I certainly wasn’t aware of it. It made me smile, anyway. And I took the photo. I actually prefer to think that the love of Rahr beer is so widespread that it wasn’t my bottle cap at all.

Cormac's Head

10 March 2011

During these long workdays in March, I like to take the dogs with me when I have to run errands and such, since I have far too few minutes in each day to spend with them, taking walks or paying frisbee. At least outings in the truck give them something to do, some discipline to follow and a change of scenery.

So, today, when I drove to Fort Worth to pick up Stephen and his mom from his super-early-in-the-morning doctor’s appointment, I piled the pups into the back of the truck for the trip. At one point, I looked in my rear-view mirror to see the cutest furry head, with ears erect and eyes bright. When I pointed my camera at him, his ears drooped a bit, but he’s still cute.

Pidgeon at NFG

8 March 2011

Blue Velvet. Gold Brocade. Cutting. Sewing. Facebook. Email. Drive to Stephen’s house. Help get him ready for the doctor and a hospital stay. Worry. Drive home while Ed takes him to his doctor’s appointment. When Kyle arrived home soon after me, I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough when he asked me if I wanted to go to No Frills. He even took me to Fuzzy’s for food, first! What a wonderful husband.

A couple of hours, a margarita and a little beer, and some trivia that I didn’t totally suck at tonight made me feel a little bit better. The phone call from Stephen telling me the doctor didn’t put him in the hospital tonight after all, made me feel great! Turns out the new medication has had the positive effect on regulating his heart rate, that was hoped for, and he’s feeling much better.

I snapped this photo on the way into No Frills Grill … one of many pidgeons that have made a “home” within the letters of the NFG sign. I’ve walked under it a thousand times … tonight it caught my eye and amused me.

Now, let’s not worry. Let’s focus on wellness and fully-met deadlines. The March snowball is rolling …

Dan as Will Kemp

Dan as Will Kemp

27 April 2010

I went shopping this morning! Glenda (Terrill’s Glenda, not David’s Glenda) needed new shoes for a formal party she’s attending this weekend, and she hates shopping for shoes. Imagine! I can’t! I love shopping for shoes and I need very little excuse to jump in and do so on someone else’s behalf. So, I met her at the mall, and performed the role of girlfriend and shoe expert rather well, if I do say so myself! She successfully found a perfect little pair of black dressy heels that will be just perfect with her little black dress. Of course, I didn’t exactly get out of the shoe department unscathed, but, what I bought was off the sale rack! ;-)

We grabbed a quick lunch at Olive Garden and then the afternoon saw me zipping off to the mid-cities for my accupuncture appointment. I cannot rightly remember what happened after that, except that I know I have no photographic documentation of whatever it was! So, once again, I cheat with a weekend photo. Above is a photo of Dan … dear friend, SAPA director, and one of my repeat customers. This is his crazy, new outfit for faire this year. I documented my work on it here on the KRuMB as it progressed, and here is the finished product on the man. I would have taken his photo sooner, but he wanted me to wait ’til he had the new hat! ;-) My best disclaimer is this: Will Kemp was a “jester”-like character … a flamboyant actor … really …

Kyle’s Doctor Visit

Kyle at Dr. Brad's Office

13 April 2010

He’s not sick—this was a “wellness” visit—he was overdue for an annual physical.

Since our dear Dr. George isn’t in our pocket all year long, living in Wisconsin, and all, we have a local doctor we call our own, as well. Dr. Brad Wasson greeted us today with familiarity and ran Kyle through a battery of tests, including ones for which I was invited to leave the room! But, that’s all done, now, and all that remains is a couple of follow-ups for special things. I’m proud of him for following throughl

He had to go off to work after his appointment, as did I! And, for dinner tonight …guess where … third night in a row! LOL

I took this photo, specially requesting a smile. as we waited for the doctor to join us.
