Football Season

   Posted by: crazyBobcat    in Daily

It’s that time of the year when great bar conversations cease and are replaced by “my team is better than yours” or “I have a better Fantasy Football quarterback than you.” The days of socio-political discussions are pushed aside in favor of favorite warrior drum-beating. It will remain thus until mid-March. These are the days I don’t like.
You see, it doesn’t matter, ultimately, whether your team wins or mine. It is just a game, and no matter the number of discussions held, we can, in no way, affect the outcome. I find it wearisome, yet, I participate rather than be called, and considered to be, a pariah.
I wish March would arrive tomorrow, and intelligent, insightful, thoughtful, important discussions would once again become the norm.
Cheers.

Downtown Kenosha

   Posted by: crazyBobcat    in Daily

Marita Beth & I spent the majority of the day in Kenosha, WI hopping from antiques to boutiques to bars. Downtown is charming with the potential to be oh so much more. It seems that a couple of entitled families are holding the majority of the buildings (and thus, tenants) hostage at unreasonably inflated prices waiting for that “just around the corner” Kenosha boom.
Frankly, I don’t see it happening until one of the stubborn families loses a pivotal, influential player in the game of real estate.
Here’s to Kenosha and its coming boom.Cheers.

Overhead

   Posted by: crazyBobcat    in Daily

It’s been a week since last I wrote here; a damaged foot and an overload of stress at work has me less-than-motivated for the day-to-day must-dos. I’m trying, though.

This photo was taken on a Saturday. The day dawned as normal; I got up and watched my beloved Gunners throw another game down the toilet and crash out of the 3rd of 4 competitions for which they’d been vying.

I decided I needed to swallow that bitter pill with a heavy dose of beer so I bundled up and trundled to No Frills Grill for much-desired frothy adult libation.duct_work

When I finally tired of that diversion, I found myself hungry. So, knowing that MB would also be hungry by this point, I stopped at Wingstop on the way home and purchased dinner (and another beer). While there I jumped up on a table and snapped this photo.

As an aside, my wings sucked, but MB seemed to enjoy hers.

Cheers.

Bears Fans in Arlington, TX

   Posted by: crazyBobcat    in Daily

bears_fans The Chicago Bears played the Green Bay Packers for a the right to appear in the Super Bowl. While I was avidly rooting for the Pack, the rest of the bar was loud and boisterous Bears fans. At least they were loud and boisterous right up until Aaron Rodgers drove his Pack into the endzone within the first 6 minutes of the game. They stayed quiet until a late rally by the Bears provided a glimmer of hope; but as the time ticked away, the Bears fans trickled out.

Cheers.

My New Shirt

My New Shirt

2 January 2011

Yep. I really did take a photo of my boobs. :-) This is the best they’ve ever looked in a t-shirt, that’s for sure! In fact, I wrestled just now, with the idea of titling this KRuMB post “My TCU Tits” or “My Proud Boobies” or something like that. But, I decided that was over the top! 😉 After all, my mama is already going to be a little freaked out, if she reads this! (Love you, Mama!)

The cashier who helped us at the TCU Bookstore last week, hinted that the store would be open on Sunday … “just in case.” And, sure enough, my waking thought this morning, following the high of yesterday’s game, was, “I want a championship shirt!”

So, my very patient, indulgent husband, drove me to Fort Worth where we dined at the marvelous Dutch’s Hamburger joint across from the campus, and then, like a good little TCU alum, I paid way too much for a t-shirt. But, hey, I got one with long sleeves, and—not that you can tell from this picture, but — it looks great!

Rah Rah, T-C-U!

‘Tia is a Frog Fan

   Posted by: crazyBobcat    in Daily

January 1, 2011 is a momentus day. Not just because we are shedding the shackles of an 20110101120002old year and embracing a new one; but because the Horned Frogs of TCU are playing the Badgers of Wisconsin in the granddaddy of all bowl games, The Rose Bowl. And our delighted canine fan was not to be overlooked in the hooplah. While we could not take her to the Rahr Brewery for the TCU bowl-watching party, she could – and did – proudly support her TCU colours. She even pawsed (*snerk*) long enough for me to take this delightful photo.

TCU won the game in a back and forth contest that was well played and well fought:

TCU 21

Wisconsin 19

Cheers.

Twittering the Tiles

27 August 2009

I worked the glass studio again this morning . . . we made a whole pile of pumpkins! I took this fun shot of the furnace door after we were done.  Too busy to take pictures while working! Again, I did various apprentice-y things, including playing with the gold leaf!

The next adventure of my day was the meeting with the contractor and our craft coordinator about our very leaky roof. I’ll be waiting anxiously for the estimate for those repairs.

When I was finally free of all that, I ran out to do my necessary errands of the day.  Next to the brand new FedEx/Kinko’s store, was this!  I had to take the photo—I knew Kyle and Ronnie, at least would appreciate it!  Who knew Kenosha would get a Games Workshop store?  After a Target run, I then met Ginger and Kelly and Kat at George’s house for pizza and mah jongg. George has this gorgeous set of “enrobed” mah jongg tiles that we all love to use! I wonder how easy it is to tell whose hands are whose in my photo of the day?

Red #3

   Posted by: krmb    in Daily

29 October 2008
I took this photo for the Red assignment, but since that’s over now, it simply becomes a red pool ball (the #3) and a red-wrapped piece of chalk on a black-felted pool table.
#3.
Cheers.

Foosball

   Posted by: krmb    in Daily

The Game of Foosball
The game of Foosball. Recently, friends of mine that I normally play pool with, have started playing foosball instead. I don’t get it. Perhaps my hand-eye coordination isn’t great enough. Perhaps it’s just too different from real football that I can’t wrap my head around it. Either way, I don’t like foosball, never have. I’ve played it with these friends just to make sure I wasn’t being stubborn. But, the reality is…I just don’t like foosball.
Cheers.

Eyeball Bender – sorta

   Posted by: krmb    in Daily

10 June 2008
Epiphany. Last night, my wife said, "Hey, I found a GAMES magazine we haven’t looked at yet, wanna play Eyeball Benders?" I realised right then, that my love of macro and extreme close-up photography probably stems from that crazy game from GAMES magazine. I’ve been a nearly-but-not-quite-constant subscriber to that magazine from age 12 and Eyeball Benders, while not a regular in the magazine has long been my favourite game. So, here I am 28 years later creating my own Eyeball Bender photos on a regular basis:
