Happy Birthday, Me!

I have had a lovely birthday. I had phone calls and emails from all over the country! I got a fabulous little envelope of goodness from my Mama, and special treatment from my Fed Ex driver, who knew it was my birthday and I wanted to be away from the house this afternoon, so she delivered my boxes earlier than normal! It’s nearly one a.m. now, and Kyle and I are watching Bram Stoker’s Dracula—one of my favourite films. His business trip to Washington D.C. went well enough, and he’s back home safely.
I worked all through the night last night—finishing up alterations and other projects I’d promised people for the weekend. I took a nap from six a.m. until my alarm went off at about 7:15 a.m. I snoozed it a couple of times and then took a quick shower, got dressed and met Mark for breakfast at IHOP. We had a wonderful visit and got him on the way to work by about 9:15. Then, I did some packing, a little more sewing, and Ginger and I headed to downtown Fort Worth around one o’clock.
The Main Street Arts Festival is one of our favourite festival events, and although Kyle had to miss it this year, I really wanted to go. I loved being there on my birthday! I didn’t even end up buying anything, but we walked and “window shopped” and just had a great girl’s day out. We ran into Bert at the festival and walked with him for a while. We ate at La Madeleine (twice!) and by six ‘clock we were on our way back home. Once home, I finished packing, was reminded of yet another alteration I’d promised, and did that, and finally headed toward faire around 8:30. I had just about finished with all the booth prep and was arranging my beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers from Mary and Donny, when Kyle arrived, fresh off a flight from D.C.
We got to spend some time together on my birthday, after all!
