Under the Chili Pepper

Under the Pepper

28 February 2010

An absolutely beautiful day dawned in North Texas today, and I simply couldn’t stay indoors. I put on my grubby clothes and my work gloves and I did some much-needed backyard clean-up. The job is far from finished, but I feel real good about the giant dent I put in it. And the dogs loved the company.

By the time I came in from all that, it was time for some U.S. vs. Canada hockey and I opted to stay home while Kyle went to No Frills to watch with Bryan and Terrill and Kyle, the younger. It only took two of the three periods of the game for me to decide I was missing the fun, so I called Kyle and he swooped in and picked me up and took be back to NFG for the third period. It was the right decision, because although the restaurant was not by any means busy, all those who were there were actively watching and enjoying the game. And, what wasn’t to enjoy? It was a fabulously exciting game, requiring overtime to break the tied score. And even with the resulting outcome in favour of Canada, the American team should be very proud to have played at that level and to be bringing home the silver medal.

After taking our leave of the other two Pub Guys, Kyle and I headed to Chili’s to satisfy a craving I’ve been trying to ignore for a week or so. As Kyle pointed out, once faire starts we will likely have our fill of Chili’s and then some! But, it was what I really wanted. Unfortunately, they have changed their menu—yet, again—and my favourite meal is no longer available. The new thing that’s similar was okay, but not nearly as tasty. [sigh]

After doing so much work recently, and finally being caught up on my KRuMB postings, I was really frustrated to realize I was out without my camera. It was still lying on the bedside table where I was when I finished my last post. So, Kyle let me use his camera to take this shot of the view above the door to the Chili’s restaurant. I kind of like it.
